Your Question:
Dear Experts,
My girlfried has just gone on the pill and she wants us to have sex without a condom, I am her first sexual partner and she is my first sexual partner. So theoretically neither if us has an STI, can either of us still get an STI despite the fact that neither of us has been with another sexual partner?

The Answer:
Dear Wak169,
If you and your partner only have sex with each other, and neither of you currently have a sexually transmitted infection (STI), there is no risk of infection. However, birth control is necessary if you want to prevent pregnancy.
Unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse have the highest risk for the most dangerous STIs. If you do have vaginal or anal intercourse, using a latex or female condom reduces the risk of infection. To further reduce the risk of infection during oral sex use a condom to cover the penis or a Glyde dam, cut-open condom, or plastic wrap to cover the vulva.
Hope this information helps!
