The Answer:
Dear curiguy,
Yes, this is sexual harassment. In schools, the most common form of sexual harassment is called hostile environment harassment that's when someone's sexual advances affect a student's ability to participate in school or school programs. The inappropriate touching that you are experiencing is one example of this type of sexual harassment.
There are several ways people can take action against sexual harassment. You could tell this girl that she is sexually harassing you and that she needs to stop.
Or you could talk with a teacher, counselor, principal, or other trusted adult at your school. School officials are legally responsible to take action about your complaint.
It's also a good idea to keep track of the incidents write them down in a journal, or tell a friend who can back you up. Some people take legal action to stop sexual harassment. This is another option open to you.
Sexual harassment can make people feel embarrassed and powerless, but it is illegal, and it doesn't have to be tolerated. Remember, it is your right to have the harassment stop immediately.
Hope this information helps!
